Environmental Policy
Environmental Storage Solutions is committed to the continual improvement of its operations and the minimisation of any environmental impact caused by any of its activities. In order to achieve this and in recognition of both the important benefit that its operations have on the environment and also their potential harm, ESS will:
- Develop and maintain an Environmental Management System compliant with the ISO14001:2004 standard which will incorporate a series of relevant documentation and implementation of best environmental practice. It will also ensure that the concept of Continual Improvement applies to all Management Items covered by the system.
- Assess the environmental effects of its activities and operations, with a view to preventing pollution and minimising any adverse environmental impact while optimising, where possible, environment benefit. This includes the specialist treatment and recovery of ozone depleting substances and other refrigerants.
- Comply with environmental legislation, contractual and corporate environmental conditions and approved codes of practice, while co-operating fully and maintaining open relationships with all relevant statutory authorities. ESS will also ensure that its operations are carried out to the best applicable standards.
- Seek to prevent and limit nuisance to neighbouring properties and assess the risk or threat of serious environmental incidents and will develop contingency procedures to cover any such potential incident.
- Ensure that the importance of this policy in helping to safeguard the Environment is conveyed to all its employees and encourage the commitment and involvement of employees in implementing the Company policy and objectives.
- Establish an environmental programme of objectives and targets consistent with the company’s environmental aspects and policy.
- Establish training programmes within the company to improve environmental awareness, and ensure all instructions and procedures are communicated and complied with.
- Wherever possible seek to develop an understanding of the environmental issues arising from its operations among its suppliers, contractors, customers, shareholders, regulators and the local community.
